The Maltsters Arms is on the edge of Pontpridd town centre right beside a major memorial park used for exhibtions and festivals. Located right on the river bank of the River Taff with an extensive beer garden/patio area, it has been a public house in Pontypridd back to at least 1858. It is believed to sit on the site of the original earthen house from which Pontypridd takes its welsh name (Pont-y-ty-pridd - the bridge by the earthen house). The site has two floors, the ground floor has two distinctive zones, one being for wet/sport and one for dining. Downstairs is the Cellar bar which is a completely separate area which is opened on evenings for both functions/parties/disco's/live bands. This then leads out onto the external patio/beer garden which overlooks the River Taw. This is a value High Street Business which has a real community feel to it.
